Maybe you are considering teacher training, or just want to further your own personal development. Expand your understanding of Yoga by training with the British Wheel of Yoga, the UK’s largest yoga community.
The BWY is recognised by Sport England and is the UK’s foremost yoga training organisation. Its 60 hour Foundation Course provides a comprehensive grounding in basic practical techniques taught in the context of the philosophy that underpins Yoga.
It is an ideal preparation for those who may wish to train as yoga teachers in the future, but equally suitable for students who do not wish to teach.
The core syllabus includes preparation for practise, asana (postures), mudra (Sealing gestures), basic breathing, kriya (cleansing practice), pranayama (Breath control), concentration techniques, relaxation techniques, chanting, talks and discussions on the context and meaning of Yoga. Students are required to practise regularly throughout the course and encouraged to reflect upon and make notes on their practice in journal form. Other than this there is no home written work and the course is not formally assessed. There are a small number of set texts which students will be expected to purchase, and course notes will be provided.
The course at Studio Yoga will be run by Tamsin Kelly and Lorna Chapman, who runs Luna Yoga Winchester, both highly knowledgeable BWY instructors with nearly 30 years of teaching experience between them. It will take place on 10 Sundays from September 2020 to June 2021.
The course dates are: September 13 2020, October 11 2020, November 8 2020, December 6 2020, January 17 2021, February 28 2021, March 28 2021, April 25 2021, May 16 2021, June 13 2021. Each day is from 10am – 5.00pm. The cost is £600, plus a registration fee of £60. All students will also need to join the British Wheel of Yoga.
Students receive a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course 1 Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course (an 80% attendance rate is required for this).
Tamsin and Lorna are holding an Introductory Day on Saturday June 6 from 2-5pm which anyone considering the course is strongly recommended to attend. Spaces are limited so please book your place online.
Studio Yoga is now teaching classes online only with live-streamed classes and yoga and Pilates videos so you can continue to practice at home.
